Marcy Upright Mag Bicycles

The Marcy Upright Magnetic Bike is designed for easy use in the privacy of your own home. The Marcy Upright Magnetic Exercise Bike provides a compact and very comfortable style which makes at home exercise much easier than ever before. With a quiet and smooth magnetic resistance, eight adjustable resistance levels, a step through frame and a computerized monitor the Marcy Upright Exercise Bike easily accommodates different users of differing fitness levels. Simply track your exercise progress with the on-screen monitor, which shows time, speed, distance and calories burnt. Other optional features include an MP3 player, a water bottle holder and a saddle bag.

The Marcy Upright Magnetic Bike features an LCD screen that shows speed, distance, time and other information. The LCD screen is easily read from a distance and even when the sun is shining indoors the bright LCD display is easy to spot. The Marcy Upright Exercise Bike comes complete with an ergoshape frame which is designed to suit most people’s body types and provides the most adaptable upright magnetic resistance possible. The Marcy Upright Magnetic Exercise Bike is compatible with most exercise equipments including resistance rods, treadmills and even exercise balls.

One of the main features of this bike is that it has a belt drive system. Belt drive systems are more efficient that chain drives and they provide better overall performance. The Marcy Upright Bike comes with a strong and durable magnet belt drive system that is similar to other high end bikes. It is lightweight and very simple to operate. It features an aluminum frame, which gives it a very strong and smooth look.

The Marcy Upright Magnetic Bike comes in two different models. The first model comes with a motorized model, while the other comes with a non-motorized version. The first version of the bike offers four resistance levels, but does not have any computerized options and comes with just the three physical resistance levels. The second version comes with a computerized workout program that allows the rider to set the level of magnetic resistance and work their body harder by pushing up against the eight different levels of magnetic force. The non-motorized version simply offers four resistance levels.

The Marcy Upright Bike offers all of the same options that other upright bikes come with, including the ability to add a heart rate monitor, a speed-sensitive pedal speed sensor, and even a calorie counter for more accurate fitness tracking. There is also a built in memory option that stores previous workouts so you can remember them and increase your efficiency during your workouts. There is also an impressive list of features, including workout programming, customizing the speed and resistance for every rider, as well as a cool display that shows your total time and distance you have covered during a workout. All of these features make the Marcy Upright Magnetic Bike a great choice for anyone who wants to stay in shape or build muscle.

The Marcy Upright Bike also has handlebars that are designed with people who have issues with their hands. The handlebars of this bike are designed to be ergonomically friendly and have been purposely made to minimize the contact between the rider’s hands and the bike. This allows people who have sore wrists to ride without having to worry about pain as they ride. If you want to ride while alleviating the pain in your hands and arms, then the Marcy Upright Magnetic Bike is perfect for you!

  1. The pedals are well-made and have a very smooth feel to them. Having said that, there are two big flaws in this bike. For starters, it is physically tiny and will not accommodate anyone taller than 5 foot 9 or 10 inches. I’m 6’1″ and will need an additional two or three inches of seat travel in bare feet. If I’d been wearing shoes, I’d have wanted at least another three inches of seat movement. That is for proper leg extension at the bottom of the pedal travel. The second and most obvious issue is that this bike comes with crank arms that are only 130mm long. That’s small, more akin to the scale of under-the-desk exercise bikes or a child’s bike than a standard upright bicycle. Even if the seat height is comfortable for you, your feet are moving in tiny circles and you are not having the proper range of motion in your knees. A typical man’s mountain bike will have 175mm crank arms, a smaller frame woman’s bike will have 160 to 165mm crank arms, and a typical fitness bike will have at least 170mm crank arms. This is significant because unless you are 4 foot tall, you would not be able to achieve adequate leg travel.

  2. I just got the bike and set it up yesterday. It took about a half hour to complete, and all of the parts were included with the exception of two AAA batteries. It was not difficult to assemble, similar to assembling an Ikea product.

I’m pleased with the size and appearance. I added a seat cover, but it barely fit and I’m not sure if it makes it any more comfortable, so I’ll look for another one. To connect a phone for watching television, I discovered that a strong rubber band is all that is needed.

I tried it for about 45 minutes yesterday and the resistance is successful. Level 3 appears to be a decent warm-up/cool-down; move up to level 5 for a greater challenge. I don’t think you can safely pedal off the seat because it’s not robust enough, but it’s very sturdy and quiet when sitting.

I’ll update later, but for now, I believe this bike is adequate for a simple folding bike. Just so you know, there is a lot of packaging to get rid of.

  3. PROS: Solidly built, reversible handlebars (see image below), simple to change the seat at a wide range of heights, reasonably smooth peddling, easy to assemble, light enough for me to walk about, and excellent customer service.

CONS: (These cons might not be a deal breaker for many)
    – The display is subpar. My didn’t fit no matter what I tried, and I’m a mechanical and digital whiz.
    – On the lowest setting, the stress is very high. It is a matter of personal preference in this case. Even on the lowest atmosphere, Magnetic still makes me feel like I’m riding uphill. If you like coasting in between intense workouts, or if you’re a beginner, elderly, or recovering from surgery, this might not be the best option for you. You should look for a belt-driven model, which will feel more like a real bike.
    – The seat is uncomfortable, and I couldn’t find a cover in the right size. I purchased the Sunlite gel 12 x 13. This was much too large and slid around.
    – Rolls well on carpet but not so well on hard floors. I put socks on the ends to keep them from scratching the board.
    – It’s a bit of a gamble because it’s too difficult to return it after you’ve assembled it and tested it out. There could be some changes that need to be made. It can take some time to figure out if it’s right for you. And, if you live in a tiny apartment like mine, the shipping box takes up a lot of space, so you’d have to be okay with stepping over it for the duration of the decision-making process. I didn’t check the actual cost of shipping it back because the job of disassembling and packaging it was overwhelming enough.
    – If you remove the guard to change the stress, keep in mind that it will take some time, patience, and a little force to put it back on.

Personally, I had an issue with the stress at the lowest atmosphere. Since I have abdominal adhesions, I decided to begin slowly. It was just too excruciating for me. I don’t think you can safely pedal off the seat because it’s not robust enough, but it’s very sturdy and quiet when sitting.

I’ll update later, but for now, I believe this bike is adequate for a simple folding bike. Just so you know, there is a lot of packaging to get rid of.
