CURT Tray Style Bike Rack

hey guys Steven feelers here back in the
garage today I was looking at Kurt’s
hitch-mounted tray style bike rack and
with Kurt group actually have Keith how
you doing Keith doing fantastic you’re
so see I am doing great excellent so
Keith there are a ton of bike racks on
today’s market what is gonna make this
one stand out well what’s really unique
about this product is is two inch hitch
mounted product it is also a tray style
what’s unique about the tray style is
this is easily adaptable to any size
bicycle they came in half
we also have another feature that you
can get and it’s for the fat tire so you
can replace these and use the Fat Tire
style so for the fast our bikes the
other unique feature is is we add a
locking system with a rat semi system
which makes a season to adjust to clamp
down to the bar the bicycles one thing
that you’ll find the users of the tray
Styles like is the trays actually
support the weight of the bicycle so
you’re not hanging a bicycle off of one
of the mounts that’s great so yes when
you look at the the really high-end
bicycles out there the carbon fiber
frames you really don’t want to hang
those you might have them in a tray
stuff the other new unique features that
we built into this is the ability to
make this adjustable to get into the
back of the vehicle by pulling a pin
allowing the bikes to come down
simplistically okay out of the way so
that you can get into the trunk yeah as
well as if you want to store this when
the bikes are not in use you can simply
stand it up like this it into place now
what’s unique about this is it gets it
nice and tight against a vehicle but you
do need to be aware in some cases if
there’s a backup camera you may have
some visual impacts on that as well the
the other thing that we added was a
anti-rattle system because we know that
when you’re hanging bikes off the back
this particular model will support a
hundred and eighty pounds yes it’s
available in a 2-bike it’s available in
a four bike we wanted to make sure we
eliminated any swing that you’re gonna
get because it is adapted to a two-inch
ya mountain it’s sick and out there
pretty far we put an anti-rattle system
in itself instead of putting a hitch pin
it’s a threaded system that actually
pulls the
metals together and makes it tight
inside the hitch to eliminate any sway
and her bounce and while you’re going
down the road rocky so kind of warranty
D offer on this product on this
particular product we have a limited
lifetime warranty we feel that the the
bike rack is a phenomenal piece and we
want to make sure that any consumer that
is using this product can feel
comfortable for the duration of the time
that they own it

Curt Bicycle Racks

A popular choice among off-road enthusiasts, a CURT Bike Rack is one of the best solutions for transporting a bicycle when touring or camping. A typical C clamp bike rack system includes a flexible nylon boom, which is secured to the rear hitch of your vehicle. The boom can also be configured to securely hang a bicycle on the rear window or trunk. To protect your investment and extend the life of your rack, purchase a quality C clamp rack. You can find racks available for any type of vehicle.

Many different types of cyclists use C clamp bike racks to transport their bicycles. Whether you are an avid mountain biker who loves to go on long trips or an everyday casual rider who just wants to take his or her bike along for the weekend, C clamp models are perfect for all occasions. If you are an avid mountain biker who loves to take long trips and live in various parts of the country, a high-quality rack will allow you to reach your destination on weekends without having to worry about whether or not your bicycle will survive the trip. CURT bike racks are available in a variety of styles and provide both quality and versatility to suit your individual needs. The latest addition to the popular CURT line is multi-fit bicycle racks.

Chances are that if you own a couple bikes, you have already encountered a situation where you had to load only one bike onto the car while driving the second one. In this situation, the second bike rack becomes necessary to properly transport the second bike. While there are two-bike and three-bike rack options offered by CURT, the two-bike and three-bike racks are most often used by serious mountain bikers and frequently require the use of special locks to secure the bikes.

Hitch-mounted bike carriers offer the easiest installation options and also offer the most flexibility. These are typically used by riders who don’t have additional body space on their own vehicles but need to transport more than one bike. They’re a simple solution for people who enjoy riding off road but don’t have access to a dedicated ramp or drop off area. The hitch mount is typically mounted on a hitch through the trunk, which makes it extremely easy to transport. Most hitch-mounted racks are made out of aluminum and can support up to six bikes.

When looking for a suitable CURT hitch mounted bike rack for your vehicle, it’s important to consider how many bikes you’ll be carrying. A rack with fewer bike carriers will require a shorter set of straps to secure more bikes. In addition, a tray-style rack can offer the best carrying option for longer riders. Both of these designs ensure a secure and stable carrier that can support more bikes when traveling long distances. Read reviews of both hitch-mounted and tray-style CURT bike carriers to determine which type would work best for your vehicle and your trips.

Whether a casual rider or an avid mountain biker, there are several popular brands to consider for your CURT bike racks system. From aluminum to steel and more, there’s a style to fit your personal needs. All of these bike carriers are made with heavy duty construction and can support multiple bikes with ease.

  1. Excellent rack. I was struck by how heavy it is. It has a very solid feel to it. It took about 10-15 minutes to assemble and update the first time, but now it just takes about 3 minutes to turn on or off. I packed 5 bikes and rode 250 miles (of course getting 5 on is a little bit of work figuring out – see the picture I uploaded for the result). When I hit a bump, I could see it bouncing a bit, but the bikes didn’t move at all. The straps that come with it are functional. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the fact that it narrows at the top, but it was actually really useful for two of my kids’ bikes and one pull behind bike. I’m not sure I could have had them on if they hadn’t narrowed. The weight limit is one feature that sets this rack apart from others. This one has a 225-pound weight limit on the package, so it can truly carry 5 bikes. Many of the other five bike racks (including Thule, Yakima, and Allen Sports) have a weight limit of 150 pounds.

    Pros:

Build quality is excellent (heavy rack)
Tilts out of the way to allow access to the trunk/liftgate.
The weight limit allows for a total of five bikes.
Narrowing is beneficial for smaller/kids’ bikes.
The mount and strap system does a good job of keeping bikes stable.
Reflectors at the ends of the bars are a good touch.
Far less expensive than equivalent racks

    Cons:

Installation is not as easy as for some of the more expensive racks (Thule, Yakima)
Installation and removal require the use of software (one bolt to screw in and out)
Tilting it down necessitates the removal of a screw (again, not quite as simple as some others)

Overall, I’m very pleased with it and anticipate using it for many years to come.

  2. This is my first hitch mount carrier, and I figured it would complement the Curt hitch. The carrier is strong and holds the bike well, but there is more sway to the carrier than I thought. When you consider it, the entire weight of the carrier and bikes is on one stage, so you will experience side to side rocking, particularly when cornering. It was discovered that placing two straps from opposite sides of the roof rack on the car helped balance the carrier.

  3. One thing I didn’t notice before purchasing or attempting to use it was that if you have a women’s or children’s bike with a diagonal top bar on the frame, you’ll need to purchase or make an adapter bar. It When three of the four bikes did not fit in our new four-bike rack, it put a damper on my holiday plans to carry the bikes.

I scuffed up the bike arm (and probably the bikes) trying to get it to fit because the directions didn’t mention the connector, at least not that I could see.

Aside from that, it seems to function well.
