Bell Cantilever 300 Bike Rack (Bicycle Carrier) Installation Highlights

okay today I’m looking at this Bell
cantilever 303 bike trunk rack that I
picked up on walmart.com I actually
ordered it through the website and had
it delivered to the store same day just
for convenience sake picked it up on the
way home from work and now I’m gonna
throw it on the car here see how
difficult that task is okay so in the
box it looks like there is bike rack
trying to do this with one hand is a
little tricky here is the rack and I
guess that’s all that’s in the box
except the instructions are wrapped
around that bar there okay so the first
step was to unfold and extend the the
bicycle rack supports by pushing those
red buttons on either side of the rack
and kind of swinging this out and then
for a hatchback or an SUV which is what
this thing is going to go on their
instructions recommend leaving this
bottom bar or what they call the trunk
bar clipped to the bottom bar with this
clip here so I’ll just reattach that and
I guess now what I’ll do is free up
these straps so that they can be
extended I’ll remove these elastics that
came with them alright you can see I’ve
got the rack placed on here loosely and
in order to do that I just kind of
roughly positioned it and then through
the top straps up through a seam in the
hatchback here and just pulled on these
to kind of snug it up it’s not tightened
up in here and
yeah and it looks like it’s positioned
fairly well on the car
okay so then for the side and lower
straps you can see these are actually
marked lower and side I’ve positioned
them about like that and in order to get
the lower one on I ended up having to
pop the hatch a little bit here so that
I could get the hook underneath the lip
of the the lid and then I got that on
and then use the straps and just kind of
adjust that everything so that it’s snug
on this side
justice strap so it’s roughly the right
way so I’m just gonna tighten these
straps up good and tight okay so I’ve
got everything tightened up I’ll deal
with these in a minute but you can see
that it’s all pretty snug
it feels pretty sturdy to me I don’t
think it’s gonna go anywhere at the
moment and another benefit that I didn’t
realize I’d be able to do this is the
way that this attaches I can open my
hatch here and still get at the back so
that’s kind of nice probably wouldnt
want to do that with a bike on there but
but at least I don’t have to take this
off they’ll open the back okay so I’ve
got the bike mounted on I’ve got the
main tube velcroed to this cradle here
and I’ve got the upright velcro here
with the rack in between the the upright
and the down tube or whatever those
things are called anyway the bike seems
like it’s on there fairly secure I also
added a bungee cord down here to keep it
from kind of flopping around it was it
was kind of flopping around there but I
think that’ll hold it tight enough now I
also used a couple of zip ties here to
take up the slack in the tie-downs just
so it doesn’t flop around in the breeze
I can just cut those off later when I’m
done with them I get zip ties for almost
free so I can
I can just do that rather than tie it
and bill trying to untie knots and
things and then this one was a little
bit longer so I wrapped it up around
here and then zip tied the slack I mean
this way here I can still tighten this
up if I need to tighten it at all okay
so here it is with two bikes mounted
which is all I plan to mount on this I
wanted to get a free bike rack just
because I thought it would be a little
more rugged than the two bike rack and
have just a little bit more room so you
can see that I’ve got the second bike on
the outer saddle and left the inner one
unused but just kind of squished
everything to the front I’ve got the
velcro’s wrapped around the tubes here
as you can see everything seems pretty
snug it’s gonna move around a little bit
but it’s not too awful bad and then I’ve
got a couple bungee cords there wrapped
around the frames and the bottom bars of
the rack to just kind of keep everything
from flop around too much the straps
seem rugged enough the only thing I’m
concerned about are these plastic
buckles especially over time and the Sun
and the UV might might weaken these
things they might get brittle so I
wouldn’t recommend leaving this on the
car for any length of time but but I
think for the occasional road trip or or
run around town to the bike or a bike
trail or or whatever I think this thing
is perfectly fine and reasonably
affordable at $60 so anyway I guess
that’s it for the Bell
cantilever 300 bike rack that I’ve got
mounted on my 2007 Pontiac Vibe
hopefully this video was helpful thank

Bell Bicycle Racks

The Bell bicycle rack is designed for the purpose of providing ease of use and security to bicycle commuters in their commute from one place to another. This type of rack provides a secure place for a bike to be stored, keeping it protected from the elements.

There are many kinds of bicycle racks available in the market today. Most are made from steel, but there are also some that are made out of other materials such as aluminum or vinyl. Steel is the best choice because it is more durable than other materials used in bicycle racks, yet it will not rust or cause damage to a bike.

The Bell bike rack is an example of an attractive and reliable kind of rack. It offers a large variety of designs and styles. They can come in a standard design, or one that is specially designed to fit a specific model of bicycle. These racks are usually custom-made with the specifications of the model and brand of bike that they are intended to fit. Some racks come with additional options such as built-in locks or fastening kits.

This kind of rack is commonly available online. Some sites specialize in selling accessories for bicycles. Other sites offer free shipping for the products they have for sale. Most of these sites offer competitive prices when compared to the retail stores. This makes it easy for people to buy these types of rack for their bicycles.

The Bell bicycle carrier is made of strong and durable steel material. It is also covered with UV resistant paint. These racks come in different sizes, so finding one that fits your bike is easy. Most models can easily accommodate bikes up to 30 inches in length, while others may be able to hold up to 50 inches. For longer bikes, there are racks that provide hooks or brackets on the side for additional support.

With the many advantages of the Bell bicycle rack, it is no wonder why it is considered one of the most sought after racks by bike riders. The racks can provide a secure place for a bicycle to be stored, protecting it from the weather while allowing you to enjoy your ride.

It is important to choose the right bike rack for your bike. One option is to get a universal type of rack that can easily be fitted to any type of bicycle without too much difficulty. For example, a person who owns a mountain bike would probably want a rack that will provide extra support to protect their expensive bicycle from a fall if it is left unattended on a rough road.

When choosing a Bell bike carrier, it is important to make sure that it fits properly. In case the rack is not perfectly fitted, there is a risk of the bicycle sliding off of the rack. If this happens, then the bicycle’s components will become loose and damage the bike.

  1. For the past two years, I’ve been using this bike rack on the trunks of my family’s two vehicles. It is extremely simple to put on and take off, and it allows you to open your trunk while the rack is attached. It is safe to drive across town or on the highway for long distances. I normally check the straps after a long drive to make sure they haven’t loosened.

The rack has held all of my bikes, including a road bike, two mountain bikes, and a step-through frame. If you have tiny triangles on your children’s or adult bikes, you may need to get creative with how you hang them on the rack.

The only disadvantage I’ve found with this rack is that every point of the metal frame that comes into contact with the car chips the paint. I fixed this by taping some rag or foam strips in those places. It also causes the bikes to ride right up against the vehicle, resulting in a few scratches where the bikes come into contact with the car. The only solution is to pad some sections of the bikes as well.

My car is getting old, and I don’t mind a few minor paint chips at this stage. I’m quite pleased with the efficiency of this rack for the low price. However, when the time comes to upgrade to a newer, better vehicle, I will also upgrade my bike rack.

  2. Surprisingly good platform transporter. I did a ton of research on items ranging from entry-level brands to the Kuat NV 2.0 level in search of a reasonably priced, high-quality rack that will last. Seeing the ‘Right Up’ choice kept drawing me in. Based on feedback and comparisons, I chose the 350 supports plus tires (27.5×3.00 and 27.5×2.8 for hardtail and full suspension in my garage) over other brands. I am overjoyed! The frame is strong, the linkage to the vehicle is strong, and the bikes feel very stable when riding. I would suggest looking for a protection solution for occasions when the rack is left alone on the vehicle. I was able to easily wrap it around my trailer hitch using a bike lock. Second, I would suggest putting a buffer between the bike frame and the upright support – I’m concerned about the rubber compound, which is really cool, rubbing paint off the frame on longer drives. This is simply a matter of friction. My wife helped me make a nice Velcro cloth tube to tie around the frame. It works well. To summarize, I highly recommend this rack to anyone looking for a purchase that gives you much more than you pay for! I have faith in this rack and intend to use it for many years to come.

  3. Pros: Extremely heavy, made of the same steel as racks costing twice as much. It’s easy to put together for those of us who are mechanically inclined and don’t need guidance. Pivots away from the vehicle 45 degrees for better loading or entry to the trunk or, in my case, the camper shell rear glass.

Cons: Directions are badly written and photographed. There isn’t even an exploded diagram. Typically, all I need to bring something together is an exploded diagram. These assembly instructions provide a sequence of close-up images that never provide a good image of the finished product. The upright piece, as well as the piece that enables it to rotate away from the vehicle, are both on pivot pins. I don’t understand why the upright piece pivots. What good would it do if it can just pivot left or right when there are no bikes on the rack? There is a keeper wire on the removable pin for the upright portion, but no place to fasten the keeper wire. There is no mention of this wire in the instructions, nor is it seen fastened anywhere. The company sent two small machine screws, big flat washers, and small star washers, but no holes were drilled or tapped for these screws to fasten the keeper wire to. To secure the pin for the useless upright piece pivot pin, I had to drill and tap the underside of the main horizontal bar. Since this is my first bike rack, I don’t know how to equate it to another product, but there is some play that allows the bike rack to pass both left and right, as well as backwards and forwards. The bikes will not be moved. My version appears to have a better strap system that is fast and simple to use and secures them well. The four platforms that house the tires/wheels are labeled L and R, which stand for Left and Right, respectively. To get them to function as shown in the instructions, I had to place one set of platforms on the left and right as shown, and the other set backwards, with the L on the right and the R on the left. As a result, there was a QC problem with incorrectly labelled bits, which caused me to waste time. My main issue isn’t with the product’s consistency, but with the assembly instructions. They want you to download an app to get specific instructions, which I did only to discover that the app supports hundreds of items, not just this one. So I squandered about ten minutes and gave up. Please hire me to write a proper instruction manual if the manufacturer reads this.
